Right, the last time I tried to post an update, everything went haywire and it's not showing on some computers - I guess the ones with slower internet connections. So this post won't have any photos (because I went a little nuts with the photo-posting!) and will probably take me a couple of days to finish it. (I tried writing it in Word and copying across and that was only the beginning of my problems!)
New Year's was lots of fun!! I didn't really feel like going anywhere and I think everyone else's plans kinda fell through at the last minute, so we ended up having a Harry Potter festival with "excellent nosh" - I enjoyed it!! (yes, I'm very boring, I know...) I had the Friday off work as well, so it was a brilliant looooong weekend, but the following week was a little painful - it was the first full week of work I'd had in a month!
The snow was fun and made everything really pretty, but it messed up so much! People couldn't get to work cos they couldn't get out of their driveways, the transport system was still running, but they battled too. A couple of the train doors didn't close properly and were running a bit slower cos they were being run manually in case of obstacles on the tracks. Naturally, my trains and buses were all running normally which meant I still went to work!! I've just been wearing old jeans to and from the office cos I've had to climb through snow and over all sorts to get the buses! Plus, I've slipped a few times and would rather slip and end up with soaked jeans than soaked work-clothes. Most of the snow has gone now, but some of it is still melting, so the ice is a bit of an issue. Though there are rumours of more snow in the next few weeks - at this stage everyone's trying to deal with the fog! The last week has been pure fog - well, there were the odd "Wow! Blue sky!" moments, but not many. It felt like I was back in Hilton!! Yet, it's been sunny and postively warm up in the mountains... go figure. I'm a little relieved that I'm coming back to SA in time for winter, cos I'd die of heat in summer, but it's going to feel like the longest winter of my life!! :)
Work's going well - I actually have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing and that always helps! I like working there and I wish there was some way I could stay - I'm waiting to hear from the embassies on that... We shall see.
I can't think of what else to update on, so I'll write more another time!! Till then...
