Who knew that one little incident this morning would lead to my room looking so much better?!
First thing this morning, my bathroom door jumped off its rails and attacked me. Charming way to start the day. All I could think was "thank goodness it's not tomorrow". So instead I get to wake up on my birthday to a much calmer, more serene room. Until I put all the POTC figurines back above the doorframe...
But I have spent the last 45 minutes trying to figure out how to hang my second Canadian fringe curtain without damaging the curtain. The rail above the door is all set for rufflette curtain hooks, so using it as is would have required sewing tape onto the curtain - nuh-uh. So while I was coming up with a plan (somewhat brilliant plan if I say so myself!), I realised something.
I've met a fair number of men who get highly frustrated with their girlfriends/wives who keep trying to "fix" things themselves. And what I realised is that it's not necessarily because they're too independent (I'm sure with some of them, that's exactly the case!) but it's more because they probably had to learn to not rely on the men in their lives. Traditional roles are all very well and good if things are done properly. But when you're left with curtain rods falling off the wall and sliding doors attacking you - you learn to make a plan yourself - within your own capabilities.
Anyway. I'm happy now - more so because I have both curtains up now! And I love my fringe curtains. For all the flak I got when I bought them and lugged them halfway round the world - it was so totally worth it!

I still think you're insane for lugging curtains half way around the world, but at least you really like them, haha.
