Last week, we found a lump in Lottie's "armpit". Kinda panicked a little. The last lump we found was a hernia (really!) but I don't think you can get a hernia on your ribcage... So phoned the vet, made an appointment for Monday morning. He was worried - the moment he felt it, he was worried about it. The surgery was booked for Tuesday and boy, did I get betrayed looks as I walked out the door.
Fetched her after work and the vet said that they'd sent it away to have it checked. Now my poor baby has this big shaved area from her shoulder across to her tummy - it looks really weird. And I hadn't realised how fluffy she really is. She was sore that night, obviously, and I think the anaesthetic was still wearing off. Wednesday was a bit better but she was still mad at us! Thursday was a lot better - she even raced off to bark at the neighbour's dog, squeaking every other step as the wound pulled. By Friday she had completely forgotten about the surgery! And I was getting absolutely filthy looks for not taking her for a walk when I got home!
And the vet phoned on Friday night to say she's absolutely fine. It was just an enlarged gland, no cancer, nothing to worry about. Thank heavens. I hadn't realised how worried I was until I felt my body just relax when the vet said she was all clear! I nearly started crying on the phone!
So my perfect day today: lovely rainy weather; a Shakespeare jigsaw puzzle; tea and croissants; and my Lottie-lu who keeps coming to 'ask' why I'm sitting on the floor! Playtime ensues!! :)
